Class Rules and Policies

Class Rules:

  • Come to class prepared: you need your books, notebook, workbook, pencils, paper, and a red pen EVERY DAY.
  • Respect yourself and others and the property of others.
  • Follow directions when they are given.-
  • Turn in assignments on time. 
  • You are responsible for your make up work if you are absent. 

My grading policies:

  1. tests and projects count 50%
  2. daily work and classroom participation count 40%
  3. homework counts 10%

Assignment Specifics:

  1. HOMEWORK: Homework must be completed and ready to check at the beginning of class the day after it is assigned. Missed homework cannot be made up except in the case of excused absence. I may or may not check homework after it is assigned. Homework not complete at the beginning of class will not be counted. Each assignment is worth 10 points, for a total of 200 points per term. In case of excused absense, an alternative assignment will be given, (usually second column instead of third), but absent students are responsible for making up the missing assignment the day of their return.
  2. CLASSWORK: Classwork assignments will be graded in class as they are being completed. Activities cannot be made up, so don’t miss class!
  3. TESTS: all tests are multiple choice and matching. In case of excused absence, students will be given an alternative test upon returning to school. Missing review day does not excuse a student from testing.
  4. PROJECTS: Projects will NOT be accepted late, except in the case of excused absense.

SPECIAL ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. ACCELERATED MATH: students are required to turn in at least 9 Accelerated Math assignments per term for daily work grades. I will only take the 9 highest grades, so a low grade can easily be replaced within the term by continuing to work on AM assignments each day.
  2. GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS: graphics organizers are used to record notes and classwork for each unit of study. Students will receive two grades for each organizer (test grade and daily work grade).
